Suncoast Cancer Goes High Tech for Patient Care!

Infusion Room Tablets

When patients come to us for cancer treatment, at times they can spend hours in the infusion room. We know this can make for a long day. We also know that we want to do everything in our power to bring joy, entertainment, and at times, a well-needed distraction to our patients as they receive their cancer treatment. For this reason, at Suncoast Cancer our infusion room features Android tablets that provide interactive access to entertainment, patient support, and education.

Features of the tablets include:

• Ability for patients to easily hold or place the tablet chair side, to create a more comfortable and supportive environment
• Simple navigation, allowing patients to easily find the resources needed for a better treatment experience
• Access to recently released full-length feature films
• Meditation application
• Access to condition-specific information
• Local and national support resources

Exam Room Wallboards

It is no surprise that technology is influencing medicine. As a benefit to our patients, we have installed a 32″ digitaltouch screen wallboard in each of our exam rooms. These wallboards offer two modes: consultation and education.

Consultation mode provides an interactive platform where our providers are able to educate patients with condition-specific and anatomical illustrations, including some 3D models. This tool allows our providers to select, rotate, and annotate to explain medical conditions and cancer treatments in easy to understand ways. We can explore layers of skin and tissue to display the inside of the body visually to our patients.

Education mode provides informative media in a user-friendly interface, enabling our patients to learn about relevant health topics. This actionable information shared with patients during their visit greatly helps them make informed health decisions and improve outcomes. The information is continually updated to ensure accuracy.
